RECENT EVENTS
March 15--St. Patrick's Day Parade
Club members participate in the St. Patrick's Day Parade in downtown St. Louis each year. The day always starts with a great breakfast at Sqwires Restaurant a few blocks away from the parade route. Cool cloudy weather this year, but a good turnout of spectators.
April 20--Easter Show
The Concours d'Elegance, commonly known as the Easter Show, had fewer entries this year due to rainy weather in the early morning. Ken received an award for a 1995 Chevrolet Caprice and Mike earned one for his DeLorean.
Some members of our club also belong to the show host Horseless Carriage Club and helped with planning, setup, administration and post-show cleanup. The HCC makes a donation to our charity, The National Children's Cancer Society for our efforts.
May 3--Valley of Flowers Car Show
An excellent car show in Florissant, MO. There is usually a large number of cars, but once again the weather affected the number of entries. A steady rain started shortly after we arrived and continued through the day. Four cars from the club participated: Ed & Deb's 1995 Cadillac, Bill & Karla's 1991 Chrysler TC, Doug's 1961 Impala and Bill B's 1957 Chevrolet. Doug received an award in the Modified Class and Bill B. received one in the Stock Class.
It is fun driving home in the rain with vacuum powered windshield wipers.
May 10--NCCS Dinner
This year's dinner included appearances by several
past members of the St. Louis Blues hockey team.
The National Children's Cancer Society is our club's
primary charity. We make donations each year from
the car shows we host and other activities. The
program at this year's dinner began with a shout out
and thank you to us from the chairman of The NCCS
for our steady contributions over the past 20 years
amounting to over $325,000.
